The EnergySense Resilience Center, in partnership with the Village of Oak Park and Climate Ready Oak Park, is launching four workshops designed to empower commercial building owners and their tenants to unlock utility savings through strategic efficiency investments. These 60-minute in-person sessions aim to identify common opportunities for greater energy efficiency, reduce utility overhead, and overcome the “split incentive” barrier between owners and renters. All events will be held at the Oak Park Public Library.
The series starts with a session for building owners, helping them move beyond benchmarking and use this data to build a strategic roadmap for high-value upgrades and smart capital investments. Then, the next session focuses on tenants, empowering them to understand their utility data and reduce overhead utility costs. The third session brings both of these audiences together to reduce barriers to the “split incentive” for efficiency upgrades that lower utility costs and increase building value. The final session, for building owners and tenants, will shift opportunities to action and go beyond energy efficiency, sharing opportunities that can boost a building’s value, lower operating costs, and prepare for greater building resilience.
